Salsa

A spicy and rhythmic dance that originated in Cuba and Puerto Rico. One of the most popular dance styles in the world.

Salsa is a style of Street Latin dancing that was popularised by Latin American imigrants to New York during the 1960’s and 70’s and remains one of the most popular dance styles in the world.

The dance is a hot and spicy mixture of leg work, arm work, body movement, spins, body isolations, shoulder shimmies and body rolls.

As a street dance Salsa can be danced anywhere there is music and typically there is no set pattern or choreography. Rather, couples rely on leading and following techniques to create mesmerising routines that flow effortlessly from one step to the next.

Because we devote a whole class to Salsa you will not only learn all the steps you need to Salsa like a professional but we will teach you correct lead and follow techniques that you can use in any latin dance club in the world.

We offer “Pay As You Go” casual rates so you can choose to not be locked into a term of dancing and you don’t need a partner to join in. Just book into a class on-line and come along.

Why not come along and give it a try? The hardest thing is walking in the door. What have you got to lose?

Need More Information?

In our Salsa classes we teach the following styles:

  • Cuban Salsa (a circular style with fluid and rhythmic movement)

Think you have Two Left Feet?

You are not alone. All new dancers are in the same situation for the first few lessons and everyone must start at the beginning. Our introductory lesson pack is designed for complete beginners and we guarantee that you will feel welcomed by our patient and understanding instructors. We will have you dancing and enjoying yourself in no time.

What should I wear?

Neat casual dress is all that is required. Shoes should be securely attached to the feet, no thongs or loose sandals, and shouldn’t provide too much grip. For example, sneakers with rubber soles often have too much grip to allow for spins and so on. As you progress, a proper pair of dancing shoes are a good investment.

How much does it cost?

Our Salsa classes are $25.00 for a 60 minute class.
